I never imagined my journey would lead to sharing my story with the world. But, that's where it has led me and I am honored that you are taking time to learn more. I am many things and no one element of my life defines my journey. I am currently Miss Chelsea Volunteer Teen 2024 and competed this past summer at Miss Volunteer Alabama Teen. I have also held titles in the Miss Alabama Teen organization. I am a competition dancer and have trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical dance for 13 years. I am an honor student at Briarwood Christian School. Those are all things I have achieved through a lot of hard work.
I am also dyslexic. There was a time when I hid that reality from others. With the love and support of my family and years of targeted intervention, I am academically successful. School will never be easy for me and I will never be cured because dyslexia is not a disease. It is simply the way my brain processes language. Quality interventions can make a world of difference for students with dyslexia. 1 in 10 students have dyslexia and early intervention is critical for the most successful learning outcomes. That's why I founded Megan's Mission, to share my story and encourage others to be proactive in dealing with dyslexia. I am honored to be an official ambassador for Alabama Game Changers, a medical center for academic resilience and success.
